THE TEAM

TEAM 50 is a Swedish civil aviation show group founded in 2012 by members from F6 Flygklubb, Ärna Flygklubb and Västerås Flygmuseum.

The group flies with SAAB Safir, both individually and in groups such as rote,3-, 4- or 5-group.

The SAAB Safir aircraft was used by the Swedish Air Force as a school, training, transport and reconnaissance aircraft between 1946 - 1993. During the Cold War, the Swedish Air Force grew a great deal and the need for more pilots placed entirely new demands on a new school aircraft. In 1952, Bücker Bü 181 Bestmann was replaced by SAAB Safir as a school aircraft and was given the military designation SK 50.

SAAB Safir was manufactured in several different versions, of which the B and C versions were those used in the Air Force. The aircraft used by TEAM 50 are both B- (SK 50B) and C-version (SK 50C). The aircraft are historically painted and marked as they once looked when used within the Swedish Air Force.
